Eurasia

Today I will be visiting Eurasia. I will be visiting two sites in Moscow, Russia. Moscow is the capital and the largest city in Russia. It is also the home of nearly 12 million people.

Site 1 – The first site we visited was Saint Basil’s Cathedral. St. Basil's Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Intercession, is a well-known cathedral in Moscow, Russia, that was built for Saint Basil the Blessed by Ivan IV (Ivan the Terrible). It is located in an area called the Red Square. It was constructed between 1555 and 1560. The cathedral has avoided destruction many times. Napoleon Bonaparte wanted to transport it to Paris, but it would have been impossible. Instead, he ordered that it be torn down. The fuses were lit, but rain began to fall, quickly extinguishing the flames. It was also ordered to be demolished by Joseph Stalin because it interfered with parades. His architect, on the other hand, stood on the stairwell and insisted that he leave the cathedral. Surprisingly, Stalin agreed. The city of Moscow was likewise engulfed in flames on several occasions, and the cathedral still stands today.

Site 2 – The second site we visited was the Kazan Cathedral. Kazan Cathedral was one of Russia's largest churches at the beginning of the nineteenth century. It was constructed entirely of Russian building materials by Russian craftsmen. The first Russian political demonstration of workers took place on December 6, 1876, in the square in front of the Kazan Cathedral. It took around ten years to build from start to finish. The Cathedral's architect, Andrei Voronikhin, had intended to construct two colonnades rather than the single one that was eventually built. Kutuzov, a famous Russian warlord who fought Napoleon during the French invasion of the Russian Empire, is buried in St. Petersburg's Kazan Cathedral. Metal constructions were used to form the domes during the construction of this Cathedral. It was designed by an architect who was formerly a serf. The Kazan Cathedral was designed in the style of St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome, according to Emperor Paul I of Russia's desires.
